Alecos Levidis’ “The Myth-historic”
WHAT: Alecos Levidis’ “The Myth-historic” is a series of twenty four paintings of autobiographical character, which have been created during the last four decades (1980-2019). Personal experience is interwoven with social and political events that shaped the painter’s life. Born at the end of the war, Levidis was brewed in the cultural creation of the 30s generation as well as the modernist movement. In his adolescence he was shaped by the work of its representatives that marked the post-war era; literature, poetry, theatre, painting, music, cinema, folk culture. In the years that followed, he never stopped drawing inspiration from the creative output of the 30s generation.
