ANSELM KIEFER at the Gagosian
WHAT’S ON: This week, the Gagosian presents Anselm Kiefer’s debut solo exhibition of recent works in painting, sculpture, and photography. Gold, lead, and sand meld with myth, history, and natural elements to create a spellbinding and luminous display. Kiefer’s works promise ponderings on themes of creation, metamorphosis, and the cyclical nature of existence.
I choose materials that have something to say to me: Ash, sand, lead, gold, etc. For me, these are selected things that have a spirit in them, which I bring out, make visible.
