Athens Insider’s Literary Salon returns with Ian Collins and Helena Smith

Athens Insider Literary Salon returns to Pangrati with a live conversation featuring award-winning writer and curator Ian Collins and veteran journalist Helena Smith discussing the anarchic life and legacy of the rebellious British artist John Craxton, on the centenary of his birth.

During the last year, we have had the incredible privilege of getting to know Ian Collins, our guide into the world of John Craxton, the gifted painter who translated his love for Greece into brilliant patterns of colour and light. Collins is the brilliant writer of the definitive biography of Craxton and curator of the retrospective that was on display until recently at the @Benaki Museum. On Wednesday 19 October, we’ll finally celebrate Ian Collins, his iridescent language and charm, as well as his 2022 Runciman Award.

Helena Smith interviews Ian Colllins and shares her own experiences with Craxton during her 30-year career as Athens-based correspondent for The Guardian. Join us on Wednesday, 19 October at 6:30 pm on the Insider Terrace at Archelaou 8 in Pangrati. In collaboration with @Lexikopoleio Books, the English and Greek editions of Craxton’s biography will be available for purchase. The conversation will be in English. Limited seats so please call 210. 7298634 or send us an email to info@insider-magazine.gr
