Exploring Anavasi: Maps, Guides and Much, Much More

Visit this cabinet of cartographic wonders on Voulis and learn wonderful things about the world around us and how to explore it.

Anavasi Maps, located in the culinary hotspot of Voulis near Syntagma is a feast for the eye and the soul that will inspire a deeper connection with the places we live and explore. The shop is the tip of the iceberg of a wide ranging cartographic empire, run by the utterly fascinating Ivy Adamakopoulou, who I bet can tell some enchanting tales of icebergs as well as most other features of our ever changing environment. In this era when most of us have access to a digital representation of the whole world warming our pockets, Ivy is an impassioned advocate for the benefits of holding a physical map in our hands, or spinning a globe on its axis.

While an online map is a tool that is primarily used to get us from A to B as quickly and efficiently as possible, and is immediately forgotten once it’s done its job, a physical map places us in the context of our lived environment and asks us to navigate ourselves rather than slavishly follow the next instruction. A family business, the shop was established by Ivy’s parents, Anavasi Maps also specialises in hiking and walking guides, collaborating with cartographers, designers and mountain guides to curate a unique collection of ways to travel and look at our world. With a collection of globes as well as the travel guides and maps, there are many captivating ways to engage and the knowledgeable staff will help with any queries and it’s impossible to visit the store and not leave a bit more excited about future adventures.
