International Museum Day 2020 at the Benaki Museum
WHAT: With the theme “Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion“, International Museum Day 2020 focus on the potential of museums to create meaningful experiences for peoples of all origins and backgrounds is central to their social value. Following lockdowns, International Museum Day 2020 is going digital!
The Benaki Museum takes part with the “Seeing with Senses” program, a multisensory workshop that makes the collections of the museum accessible to visitors with low vision or blindness.
With the theme “This Summer: Three Pictures for Our Travel Bags” is celebrating International Museum Day 2020 #IMD2020 with an online program for all visitors.
We will focus on landscape -a recurring theme of the Ghika Gallery- exploring three paintings that depict the clarity and saturation of the summer light.
The selected works are by Nikos Eggonopoulos, Gerasimos Steris and Spyros Papaloukas, whose travels to existing or imaginary destinations we will follow through poetry, sound and verbal description.
During the program participants will have the opportunity to share a memory of a summer landscape that is meaningful to them.
The program will be conducted in Greek.
