Jazz in Jazz reopening marks Kolonaki’s autumn calendar

An important day on the Kolonaki calendar is when Vangelis and his gang of merry whiskey whisperers throw open the door of Jazz in Jazz.

This year the magical day was 1st of September and the more astute Lycabettus locals found the route of their evening stroll altered accordingly. In this confusing modern era when we are all walking around with our entire musical catalogue in our pocket but, as a society, haven’t agreed the etiquette for forcing it on others, Jazz in Jazz is adorned with a phrase to calm the shredded nerves of the contemporary drinker. “Sorry No Requests” says a sign behind the bar, and they mean it. Thankfully, and almost magically, because I’ve rarely seen it happen, the right track always seems to be playing at the right time and importantly, at the right volume. A place with this much personality would be forgiven for resting on its laurels when it comes to the actual drinks but the cocktails are top notch with a focus on classics which they will happily, and cleverly, personalise on request. Another treat is the extensive collection of whisky, whiskey and bourbons. Whether you are a seasoned bather in the water of life or just dipping a toe in, I can guarantee that they will have something that will raise a smile.
