Margarita Myrogianni’s Transmutation at The Breeder
What: The Breeder presents Transmutation, an exhibition by Margarita Myrogianni. Her new works examine the interplay between the body and art. At the core of the show is a captivating series of artistic jewelry, where the opulence of nature merges seamlessly with the essence of the everyday.
Drawing inspiration from a tradition of artists who embraced jewelry as a medium of expression, such as Jean Cocteau, Méret Oppenheim, and the Lalannes, these pieces are born from Myrogianni’s inventive process, delving into themes of personal metamorphosis. Crafted using the ancient cire perdue casting technique—where wax is transformed into metal—the jewelry fosters a profound dialogue between heritage and contemporary creativity.
Complementing the jewelry are sculptures that extend Myrogianni’s exploration of the evolution from two-dimensional to three-dimensional forms. With their elegant lines and meticulous craftsmanship, the works are scaled to the human body and defined by their intricate textures and details. For Margarita Myrogianni, space and form become living entities, creating an exhibition experience that is deeply sensory.
